The Orphan Movie Review

The Orphan

Want to sit on the edge of your seat?  Want to be happy, sad, suspicious, and mad?  Go see The Orphan.  This movie will take you in all directions and ranges of emotions.  Basically, the title tells all.  A family goes to adopt an older child to bring into their family.  There are 2 children, a deaf little girl and a pre-teen boy.  The newly adopted child seems to fit in quite nicely accept for her quirky mannerisms and odd sense of fashion.  She instantly bonds with her new little sister, but the brother shows his dislike; he thinks she’s odd and refuses to accept her as his sister.

The husband and wife’s underlying problems are exacerbated by the orphan when she points out the flaws in her new mother’s interaction with her; oddly enough she is unhealthily smitten with her new father.  As a concerned nun attempts to warn the adoptive parents, the orphan turns from sweet to vengeful.  And that’s when the “H” in horror makes its presence known!  You will enjoy the twists and turns this movie takes you, and I repeat . . . you will be sitting on the edge of your seat as the grisly truth about the orphan unfolds!
