PRESS RELEASE
11/13/2009

For Immediate Release

Musicians Institute will be the benefactor of the star-studded, Paint Shop and EM & Co Stylists Choice Walkthrough Reception. The invitation-only fundraising event on November 17 will include celebrities, stylists, members of the press, media and American Music Awards nominees.

Presented in conjunction with the upcoming AMA Awards show, the cocktail reception will allow participants – in accordance with the theme “Be Unique and Really Stylin’” – to check out the Celebrity Stylist Preview Choice, nail spa, make-up and hair styling at the new Paint Shop, and view international luxury designers from EM & Co.

The PREVIEW Cocktail Reception for Stylists, Agents, Publicists, Celebrities, VIPs and members of the music industry event takes place on November 17th, from 6-10 p.m., hosted by EM & Co and Paint Shop at 7938-7940 W. 3rd Street in Los Angeles. Sponsored by Parma and Hypnotic. The reception will include Fashion Show, DJ sounds by a house DJ, a live music performance by upcoming pop/urban music artist J*Smith, who recently opened for Colby O’Donis and Demi Lovato, and appeared on Melrose Place, and VIP SPA and beauty gift bags from Big Sexy Hair, OPI nails and more, with special Guest Celebrity Makeup Artist Sharon Gault (Madonna, Lady Gaga).

During the festivities, there will be an ongoing fashion presentation from top designers Rubina Anjum, Rania Kinge and IV Luxury from StyleshopUSA, and silent charity auction, a portion of whose proceeds will be directed towards the Musicians Institute (MI) Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to deserving students to pursue their musical education. Among the items on the block will be paintings by Allan Aldridge, a renowned U.K. artist and illustrator who has designed albums covers for everyone from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Elton John.

John Lennon once dubbed Aldridge “His Royal Master of Images,” while Elton John called his work on his “Captain Fantastic” album “a visual package beyond my wildest dreams.”  Aldridge was also the artist who created iconic images for the classic 1969 book “The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics.”  A retrospective of Alan Aldridge – the Man with the Kaleidoscope Eyes – featured at the Design Museum in London from October 2008 to January 2009, was reviewed as “the trip of a lifetime.”

Since 1977, Musicians Institute (in Hollywood, CA) has trained thousands of graduates for careers in every genre of contemporary music. From the beginning, MI revolutionized music education with hands-on, intensive, performance-based programs taught by working professionals. Today, MI’s unique, innovative approach includes degree and certificate programs for career-minded guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, keyboardists, audio engineers, independent artists, guitar makers, music business professionals and filmmakers.
