BECOME CELEB-SAVVY: Jemma Kidd Provides Top Pre-Award Show Tips

It’s Awards Season in Hollywood. To prepare, celebs of all ages are stepping up their workout routine, meeting with their stylists and getting their skin in shape to be glowing and fabulous under that awards makeup look! But getting radiant skin can be a challenge for even the most “fresh-faced.” Enter Jemma Kidd, with her simple steps for glowing, and healthy skin that even the busiest Hollywood it-girl can follow.

1. Get to know your skin. This “skintelligence,” – understanding what makes your skin behave in the way it does and knowing how to restore balance – is the key to healthy, radiant skin.
2. Exfoliate regularly to remove dead cells and leave skin looking fresh and healthy. Either use a gentle exfoliating wash everyday or an exfoliating cream two to three times per week. Don’t scrub too hard, as this can damage capillaries.
3. Always wear a sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher to avoid premature skin damage due to photoaging. The easiest way to do this is to use moisturizer and foundation with a built in SPF.
4. Use eye creams and gels sparingly around the eye area as excess product can build up underneath the skin, causing puffiness.
5. Apply moisturizer while the skin is still lightly damp. This will lock in moisture.
6. For daytime opt for a moisturizer that contains SPF and for nighttime choose a richer cream that is highly moisturizing. Skin is more absorbent at night, so solution specific creams will be more beneficial if applied at this time.
7. Regular exercise increases blood circulation which carries more nutrients to the skin and helps with the renewal of skin cells.
8. To keep your skin looking beautiful, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, which are high in antioxidants and help to protect the skin from environmental damage. Omega 3-6-9 supplements are also recommended for good skin.
9. Although after a late night it may be tempting, try not to go to sleep while still wearing your makeup. Also remember that the skin around your eyes is about a third of the thickness of the rest of the face and is therefore very fragile. Remove your eye makeup by soaking cotton pads in eye makeup remover and pressing them lightly onto the eyes for up to ten seconds before gently wiping away, making sure you don’t stretch the skin.
10. Most importantly – don’t overload your skin with makeup. It should accentuate your best features and flatter your face, not mask it.

So between detoxing and dress fittings, following these simple steps will ensure that every celebrity is putting her best face forward this awards season.
