COME HOME TO IRELAND FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY AND MAKE YOUR FRIENDS “GREEN WITH ENVY”

Ashford Castle, set on 350 acres in Ireland’s verdant County Mayo, knows how to celebrate a holiday, especially the most quintessentially Irish fest of all, St. Patrick’s Day. To add to the fun, Ashford Castle is offering a “Green with Envy” package guaranteed to make friends long for a trip to the Emerald Isle of their own.

The two-night package is available from March 12 until March 19, 2010 for €790 (approximately US$1,076) in a Corrib Standard room with lake view. Breakfast is included each morning. The first day also includes an Emerald Phyto Body Treatment for two, a cooking demonstration (Irish soda bread) and a Guinness pouring with the chef, plus holiday games including a St. Patrick’s Day “Pot of Gold” treasure hunt and a “Long Puck” hurling competition.

On day two, guests enjoy a boat trip to the Isle of Inchagoill and visit St. Patrick’s 5th-century church called Templepatrick. The story of St. Patrick is told on board by historian Captain Luskin (whose first name happens to be Patrick) and later Ashford Castle’s house calligrapher gives instruction on how to sketch a favorite Irish proverb. Arthur’s Bellinis are served on the house and the Quiet Man movie, a true Irish classic filmed in part at Ashford Castle, runs on television in all the guest rooms and suites.
