A Good Story to Tell That Wasn’t Told Well: RED TAILS
Posted on February 11, 2012 | 1,256 CommentsRed Tails is a movie about Tuskegee Airman fighting in WWII. How much of the film was based on real events and how much was embellished? As I watched this movie, I kept asking myself that question; some of the events seemed too unbelievable. Now I realize Red Tails is rated PG-13. Therefore, it was obvious George Lucas was catering to a young audience, mostly boys age 13, and there is nothing wrong with that, but the element of story was lacking and I found myself getting bored through most of it. -
Invictus – How One Man Helped to Unite a Nation
Posted on December 14, 2009 | 49 CommentsDirected by Clint Eastwood, starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, Invictus is a movie about newly elected South Africa President Nelson Mandela uniting the blacks and whites of South Africa. Based upon historical events, the film shows South Africans’ struggle to accept their fellow citizen’s obvious difference. Morgan Freeman plays President Mandela, the first black president of South Africa, who is faced with difficult choices. On one end, he empathizes with his fellow blacks in remembering the hatred, racism, and injustices of the past; and on the other end he sympathizes with the white South Africans and their fears of losing the things they love the most, rugby. -
