Did You Know: Raised Blood Sugar Tells Your Body to Not Burn Fat

Have you ever wondered why so many health gurus tell you to not eat sugar or to eliminate it all together when dieting? When sugar is running through your blood stream your body releases insulin, which prepares your body for digesting a full meal. The problem is when your insulin levels are up, your body will not burn stored body fat as a source of energy since the insulin is telling your body there is more than enough food coming in. Sugar is everywhere in our food today so just avoiding sweets isn’t enough these days. You can find sugar in salads nowadays if you are not looking. You might be thinking you don’t have that much sugar but its easy to go over. A 12-ounce soda can contain as much as 13 teaspoons of sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup. The USDA suggests consuming no more than 12 teaspoons of sugar a day total so it’s not as hard as you may think to go over. You are never a victim and if you are focusing on weight loss, you definitely need to eliminate the white fat locking down sugar for best results. Also make note that a diet high in fiber reduces your blood sugar, in case you are not sure just how much sugar you are taking in, add more fiber for safe measure.
