Project Ethos Delivers Inspiring Fashion, Art, and Music Event at Avalon Hollywood

This March, I enjoyed sitting second row at Avalon Hollywood with one of my favorite stylista girlfriends. The evening’s full-on, multidimensional production is one we still talk about to this day—about a month later.  For those who have not attended a Project Ethos event, consider it the beautiful, collision site of fashion, art, and music. It is also the epicenter of inspiration for fashion professionals, including myself. One of Hollywood’s most historic landmarks, the Avalon, embraced this event amazingly as it added layers of sophistication and glamour to the evening’s production.

I was no less impressed with this Project Ethos event than I was at the October event. In fact, the growing popularity and wow factor of the Project Ethos event at the Avalon was even more evident amidst a packed house of consumer fashion mavens, media, and buyers. The event kicked off with an invite-only, meet and greet among participants and top industry guests, before more than 1,200 attendees crowded inside to witness live art installations from LabArt Gallery’s Sand-One, Jules Muck, and CYRCLE.

Then right on schedule—without delay—the first runway show hit the stage, featuring a slew of uprising designers. This included  Luis Mendoza & Yesica Medina (LUICA), Ermelinda Manos (Ermelinda Manos), Janean Johnson (JaJo Couture), Wen Guo (Boditecture), and Danielle Pettee (Danielle the Dress Maker).  Following the first half of the overall fashion presentation, Hyper Crush, my new favorite, Los Angeles-based electro-pop group, took stage. Their hard-hitting club beats kept attendees energized before the second set of designer collections graced the runway, which included Melissa Velia (Melissa Velia), Edita Bandaryan (Edita Collection), Regina Marie Woods (G. Marie), Catherine Furio (Furio Apparel) and Johana Hernandez (GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez).

Although every fashion designer put in amazing effort to show off their design skills, my two favorites were the Boditecture collection and GLAUDI. Nearly every Boditecture piece featured on the runway was amazingly artistic and impressing, to say the least. Sleeves detaching and long dresses turning into minis definitely epitomized the name of the collection, showing the ability of architecturally approaching fashion design. GLAUDI, the show-stopping collection by Johana Hernandez, maintained its sensationally unique vibe. I was first introduced to this line at the Project Ethos event in October, and love it. So I was excited to see models make their way down the runway in abstract, sexy pieces.

An electric after party with Audi, Jin & Quinn, The Seems, as well as an encore runway show and live art from James Haunt, continued the celebration into the late hours. In addition, Haunt was energetic on stage, painting models into a canvas-created optical illusion.

Ultimately, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Avalon as I got doses of inspiration from all directions. This Project Ethos production fantastically delivered the works of fashion, music, and art in a smoothly packaged event.
