Inspired by Alien and Blade Runner, all the pieces in this debut collection by Venezuelan designer Camilla X Castillo revolved around the main theme, a leather panel with twisted strips, creating a spiny, very Alien-like effect.  The pencil skirts and close-fitting white dress were strong pieces that could easily be sported at the next cocktail party.  The bra-type strappy tops with the folded shoulder “wings” had a futuristic, sexy edge, only slightly marred by the lacy edging of the bra straps. The metallic tulle pieces, although an interesting concept, seemed somewhat muddled shape-wise, lacking the edge of the leather panel pieces.  The close-fitting, body-conscious styles, in black or white, served as a perfect canvas for the sculptural leather panels.  The model’s hair and make-up, together with the gold strips on their arms and necks, brought a razor-sharp edge to a very cohesive presentation from a new designer.
