What used to be called “P.T. Barnum’s Great Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan, and Hippodrome,” and the moniker “Greatest Show on Earth” was added later; it is now known as Ringling Bros. And Barnum and Bailey.

I’ve always loved to watch the Academy Awards, whether I’m doing it with a big group like I did at the Hyatt Hotel in Century City last year or just in my den with my dog and a big screen TV. Either way, the experience is always the same for me: hopeful and engaged. This year’s Oscars was very entertaining. It seemed to flow better than past shows.

On The Daily Buzz, “Hot Topics” segment Eugene Hernandez hosted Thompson on Hollywood’s Ann Thompson, Movie City News’ David Poland, MPRM Co-Founder and Co-President Mark Pogachevsky and others who expounded on the sentiment that “we’ve become Twitter-ized,” with Pogachevsky commenting that “we don’t have the kind of depth of thought and conversation” that existed in the past.”

There’s a lot to be said for free “stuff!” From my observations, people are really inclined to make an appearance if they’re promised a loaded swag bag. I used to suffer from that affliction until my office storage room began to overflow—that being one of the main reasons I personally stopped attending gifting suites.

One of the special musical numbers is Uncle Fester (Kevin Chamberlin), crooning to the moon. With his rotund belly and beatific smile, Chamberlin is hilarious as he sings “The Moon and Me,” while levitating up and away into the night. We see him become “one” with the object of his affection.

If you think Afternoon Tea is for silver-haired ladies wearing white gloves and carrying Gideon bibles, think again. High Tea, an almost century-old tradition, is one of the best “it’s-so-old-it’s-new” foodie experiences at the Palm Court in the Plaza Hotel. This is the perfect spot to get together with friends for a luscious treat. Everything is prepared fresh at the hotel with the best organic and local ingredients, sourced from a variety of New York regions.

The story takes place in a brothel amidst the chaos. The madam takes in young women to service the men on either side of the war, showing that it’s better to willingly give their bodies than live in the bushes or refugee camps.
