December 1st marked World AIDS Day, an opportunity for people throughout the world to come forward and unite in the fight against HIV, showing support for people living with HIV as well as commemorating people who have died from AIDS. World AIDS Day was first held in 1988 and has been regarded as the first ever global health day.

I always enjoy attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York and have consistently for the past several seasons, but never before have I been so moved as I was on September 8, 2011 at the South Courtyard at Lincoln Center. As I was in between shows (I just saw Richard Chai’s Spring 2012 collection) I discovered there was a presentation by the nonprofit Fatigues to Fabulous.

Producer/Director Gilbert Adler (Valkyrie, Superman Returns, Starsky & Hutch) has a heart for veterans and he shows it in a big way by producing probably one of the most significant events of his life. Instead of producing a film, he’s producing an event—a fundraiser at the Playboy Mansion sponsored by the Thalians on April 30, 2011 to help United States veterans.
