Our intercontinental Face of the Month Lilian Maina began her life’s journey in Nairobi, Kenya, and then traveled between continents to start her modeling journey in California. After finishing high school, she moved to Los Angeles, determined to start a career. Although she didn’t have an agency, she worked hard to network and soon began modeling for a few designer friends.

Imagine having your own beautiful cottage in the middle of a vast winery. Then imagine yourself standing in your own private patio, overlooking gently sloping mountains dotted with rows and rows of bright green grapevines.

Modelland Book CoverTookie De La Crème, AKA Forgetta-Girl, who aspires to become a Rememba-Girl, is the main character of Modelland, Tyra Banks’s first novel. It is set in the make-believe world of Modelland in Metopia. Tookie is a fifteen-year-old girl who longs to be noticed by anyone. One way she attempts to get attention is by lying down in the hallways of her school (B3), just hoping someone would step on her, proof she existed.

Award season is pretty much over (I think), and I gotta say I ain’t mad at that. But that’s a bit sad because I used to get so amped up over seeing my favorite stars being recognized for their work in music, film, television, and humanitarian efforts. The speeches, the perfect video shots of prideful spouses in the audience, and the standing ovations for legendary appearances by the industry’s greatest. I mean, I would rearrange my schedule just to catch all of this.

Independent filmmakers have so much to juggle. First they have to coordinate the shoot, and this is after a script is selected, cast, and the crew is in place.
