With a recent showing at Fashion Week of his Autumn/Winter 2021 collection titled “Rebirth,” designer Epperson and his label EPPERSON was well received, as it debuted at the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s virtual Runway 360 platform in New York. In 2020, he won the Rising Star Award from Fashion Group International, a global nonprofit organization with over 5000 fashion industry members.  Epperson was delighted to be bestowed such an honor during this phase of his career.

If you watch the show, the models start out wearing black, like at a memorial. From that it blends into the plaid and the checkers, talking about all these people with different nationalities coming together and existing as one . . . as if people were purging themselves. The video was a rebirth.

Epperson on His A/W 2021 Collection

The former Project Runway contestant made his mark during Season 6 and left a permanent impression on fashion lovers.  Now over a decade later, Epperson has definitely kept his same sensibilities with layered looks, distressed fabrics, and themed silhouettes, leading him straight to his newest line, Just E.

For my recent shows or any of my past work, I am always looking for a natural beauty. I’m not looking for what everyone considers beautiful . . . an innocence, an edge, a really pretty girl or a really handsome guy, but with a little twist. Once I see and meet them, personality has a lot to do with it. I used to just find people on the street.  But now I have shows with big models in them, for instance Tyson (Beckford) when he first started modeling, I was one of the first designers he walked for. He has an amazing face. Then during the Calvin Klein CK1 commercial with Richard Elms, Lloyd Samuels, and Coco Mitchell. And all of these major people were my friends and they had the look. Like Cynthia Bailey, she’d done three of my shows way before Atlanta Housewives.” – Epperson

Kaylene Peoples interviews Epperson. He talks about his career and all the crazy twists of fate, attributing his divinely inspired journey to God.
