A Relativley New L.A. Collection – Octavio Carlin Is Defintely One to Watch!

Octavio Carlin’s Fall/Winter 2012 runway show at Vibiana maintained his trademark feminine, classic vibe, but added enough “Hollywood” and quirky touches to keep it interesting.  Mostly black, white, gold, with touches of red and periwinkle, with clean lines, mostly fitted bodices, and flaring out at the waist, the dresses could very easily walk off the runway into most women’s closet.  A few quirky touches like the lace pieces, which were reminiscent of the 80s, the leopard print dresses, the textured black hose, the sleek hair, and round sunglasses worked more or less, but did not detract from the overall consistency of the collection.

The well-constructed, bias-cut silk dress, in all colors and lengths, defined Octavio Carlin’s classic feminine vision perfectly.  The final piece, a textured gold brocade dress, flared out regally as the model walked down the runway, practically shouting to be worn at the next red carpet event.  A relatively new collection from an experienced L.A. designer, Octavio Carlin is definitely one to watch!
