The  Autumn/Winter season unleashed a collection of real superstars in the lipstick department. From rich, bold mattes to soothing satin formulas, the newest lipsticks to hit the market have to power to transform even the most mediocre pout.

LISA ELDRIDGE is a professional makeup artist turned Youtube superstar, who has truly earned her place among the makeup greats. With a drama-free approach to makeup (and public life), Eldridge has garnered a a significant following of people who rely on her for expert advice in makeup application and lessons in makeup history. Her latest collection sold out in a matter of hours, and it’s no wonder why: her True Velvet Lipsticks are matte, but they hydrate like a satin and have the staying power of a stain. She released four new colors in the velvet lineup, along with six lip glosses and five lip kits (which also included a lip pencil). Lisa Eldridge lip products are exclusively available on her website.

Not to be outdone, CHARLOTTE TILBURY (she of equally professional roots) has released a flurry of new kits and limited edition packaging for the new season. Tilbury’s outrageous presentation and style is a sharp contrast to Eldridge’s grounded calm, but she definitely puts her money where her mouth is (pun intended). The standout among this year’s seasonal offerings is the new Matte Revolution Lipstick in Scarlet Spell. The deep berry shade looks beautiful on a wide range of skin tones, and the matte formula stays put until you take it off. Charlotte Tilbury products can be found across a wide range of department and boutique stores, as well as on her website.

Fashion house turned makeup manufacturer HERMES released three new limited edition lipsticks in several shades of rose. The collection includes one matte formula and two satin formulas. Rose Nuit is a cool matte that that leans cool and ever so slightly violet on the lightest skin tones. Rose Ombre is a balanced nude that contains just enough warmth to keep it from going ashy. Rose Pommette is a bright rosy coral that works well as both a stain and a full coverage lipstick.

SUQQU continues to impress with the the new Lip Fog (matte) and Lip Glow (satin/gloss) in their latest makeup release. Featuring a wide range of shades from deep red to pale pink, both formulas wear comfortably and boast impressive staying power despite the fact that they are not transfer-proof.

Despite the trying nature of our current existence, many people are entering the twilight of 2020 with hope on the horizon. If nothing else, it’ll be a colorful conclusion (at least, in the world of makeup) to an otherwise drab year.
